Meet Our Support Staff
Our healthcare team of "paraprofessionals" includes a Practice Manager, Receptionists, a Certified Animal Health Technician, Non-certified Veterinary Technicians, and Veterinary Assistants.
Each member of our team embraces our mission of "Absolute Love of Pets." We pursue continuing education to keep current on the latest medical advances and techniques.

Liz Campbell joined Barbur Blvd. Veterinary Hospital & Cardiology Northwest in January 2004 as Practice Manager. She has always had a deep love for all animals, and has owned many species of pets through the years. Her previous experience includes 10 years as a veterinary technician, and 16 years in veterinary management, along with university coursework in Organizational Management. Her responsibilities include assisting with financial planning, facility maintenance, human resources, staff training and marketing (including building and maintaining our web sites). She also helps at the front desk as needed, especially early in the day during the initial opening rush.
Outside of the office Liz resides with her Greyhound, Fiona (rescued from a Mexican track), and 2 Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, Mary & Megan (former Alaskans). Her hobbies include bagpiping, Irish tenor banjo, Irish whistle, gardening, kayaking, horseback riding, and photography.
Pepper, Assistant ManagerJennifer, Receptionist
Jennifer joined Barbur Blvd. Veterinary Hospital in May 1999. She worked first as a kennel assistant, and moved to the front office to fill her current position as receptionist. Jennifer has a great love for animals and their people. Helping pets and their owners is her main priority.
Jennifer's duties include checking clients in and out, preparing charts, answering client questions, scheduling appointments, and general office duties. She also assists doctors and technicians with patient treatments.
When Jennifer is out of the office, she enjoys spending time with friends and family. Her family includes two sons, Hunter and Aidan, a Dachshund, Ozzy, and two cats, Winky and Hope.
Honey, Receptionist
Honey joined the BBVH staff in 2006. She has worked as a Veterinary Receptionist for the past three years; returning to the paid-working world after ten years of raising and homeschooling her sons, Keegan and Killian. While formallly trained as a pattern maker, she found that working in an environment helping animals and their people better suits her personality.
Outside of work she enjoys camping, kayaking, and walking. She shares her life with her husband Mike, two Cocker Spaniels (Harvard and Scampy), and a BIG twenty-four pound orange tabby cat, Baxter.
Hilary, Receptionist
Hilary joined the front desk team of Barbur Blvd. Veterinary Hospital in July 2007. She graduated in 2003 from UC Santa Cruz and has a degree in Language Studies with a focus in Spanish. Hilary has a wide variety of work experience, including a background in social services and entertainment. A true animal lover, Hilary has a special affinity for dogs and cats. Her unique combination of being comfortable in many situations along with a love of animals makes her a valuable addition to our team.
Outside of work, Hilary's other pursuits include photography, cooking, and going on walks with her dog, Carlitos.
Jenn, Receptionist
Jenn joined Barbur Boulevard Veterinary Hospital in March of 2008. Having worked for over a year as a receptionist in the veterinary field, she learns quickly and loves every aspect of the veterinary field. In the past Jenn has done Tech assisting and enjoys helping with a blood draw or any other task where an extra hand is needed. Interacting with pets is her favorite part of the job!
Naturally inquisitive, Jenn loves to ask all kinds of questions involving pet behavior, pet nutrition, and cause of pet ailments. Jenn is very knowledgeable about all things veterinary and is a great resource for client questions. As part of the front desk team, she excels at keeping the office running smoothly and in keeping a smile on everyone’s face.
Jenn’s love for animals developed at a young age and she grew up playing with and drawing wild critters. Currently in her spare time, Jenn enjoys artistic hobbies including drawing, painting, photography, digital painting (in Photoshop), photo manipulation, and a little bit of poetry on the side. She shares her time with her companions, Oreo, a Flat Coat Retriever, Charlie, an orange tabby cat, and Ziggy, a torby cat.
Summer, Technician Supervisor
Summer has been working in the veterinary field for almost 10 years. She started as a Veterinary Assistant and worked her way up to fulfilling the duties of a full-fledged Veterinary Technician. She joined the staff of Barbur Blvd. October 2004, and was promoted to head technician April 2008.
Summer's daily routine may consist of assisting the doctor, client relations, lab work, blood draws, x-rays, dentals, anesthesia and assisting with surgeries. And of course, the added bonus of spending time loving all the pets. Summer's sincere compasssion for pets makes her very popular with clients and she is often requested by name for tech procedures.
Outside of work she enjoys music, movies, family, friends, and playing with her 3 dogs, Jenny, Idgie, Zeke and her kitty, Cleatus.
Allison (Ally), Veterinary Technician Ally joined us in September of 2006 as a Veterinary As
sistant. She had returned to Portland from Arizona, where she attended Northern Arizona University as an Anthropology major. She enjoyed being near her family in the Pacific Northwest for the birth of her first son. Ally has lived around animals her entire life. Growing up in Damascus, Oregon, she raised cattle, chickens, and rabbits. Now residing in Milwaukie, she enjoys the company of her dog, Uri, cat, Anette, and an assortment of chickens. After a year of working as an Assistant, she has started learning skills that will allow her to fill the shoes of a full-fledged Veterinary Technician.
Ally especially loves learning new things and making people smile. In her free time, Ally enjoys swimming, kayaking, hiking, fishing, gardening, and indulging in a spirit of play.
Nora, Veterinary Assistant
Nora works as a Veterinary Assistant with Barbur Blvd. Veterinary Hospital and is shown here with her cat companions Zebbie and Murphy.
Many years ago she graduated from the veterinary technician program when it was at the P.C.C. Sylvania campus. She persued that for several years and then delayed that career to raise a family. She returned to the veterinary field to join the Barbur Blvd. Veterinary staff in 2005. She's proven to be very talented and works patiently and caringly with our clients and patients, showing absolute love for pets and their people, too.
In addition, the staff benefits from many of Nora's other talents including the baking of special birthday treats and the altering and mending of uniforms. She also uses her and using her Master Gardener skills to beautify our flower boxes and flower beds.
Abbe, Veterinary Assistant
Abbe is one of three veterinary assistants at our hospital. She graduated from M.L.C. in 2004 and began her college career at P.C.C. in 2006. She is currently working on the prerequisites to prepare for the Veterinary Technician program. She is an avid science student and is constantly volunteering to observe surgeries and procedures new or very interesting to her. She is a constant well of questions for Dr. Wood concerning all things pertaining to heart disease.
After completing her observation hours with us, she knew she wanted to become a more permanent part of our team and joined Barbur Blvd. Veterinary Hospital in early summer 2006. She loves spending quality time with each pet that visits us and makes a valiant effort to become familiar with each client and their animal.
Abbe has one dog, Kiya (Australian Kelpie). Kiya was born in 2000 and has lived with Abbe since a 10-week old pup. Abbe adopted her from the Oregon Humane Society where she frequently volunteered in high school, as a strong advocator for pet adoption. In her spare time she is a self-proclaimed musical enthusiast with a growing record collection and extensive knowledge of all bands from Portland. She loves to talk music!

Lynsee, Veterinary Assistant
Lynsee joined our staff in Summer, 2007. After observing the negligence of domestic pets during travels in Southeast Asia, she was reminded of her childhood desire to pursue a career in the veterinary field.
Over the years, Lynsee has resided in numerous locations throughout the U.S.A., but can honestly say she is ecstatic to be living in Portland and feels privileged to have the opportunity to work with animals everyday. Lynsee aspires to eventually become a Veterinary Technician.

Lynsee in her free time enjoys music, movies, snowboarding, literature, hiking. She especially enjoys walks with her husband Tyler, "Bailey" (little white dog pictured), and family members.
