Spay

Spaying is an important procedure that serves to improve the health of your pet and possibly deter the development of potential behavioral problems. The spay procedure is a routine surgery, but is invasive.  It is generally our protocol to admit patients for an overnight stay following the procedure so that we may ensure limited mobility within the first 24 hours and foster an environment conducive to the most successful recovery possible.  Upon discharging the patient we will partner with you throughout the following 10-14 days to monitor and assist with the healing process.

The following services are included in our spay:

  • Pre anesthetic blood work (we require a blood panel, tailored to the specific needs of each patient, be run prior to surgery to ensure proper organ function and the general global health of the pet)
  • IV Catheter
  • Multinodal approach to anesthesia including injectable pain relief, sedation and a gentle inhalant gas that allows for a safe and nuanced anesthetic protocol
  • IV Fluids (this stabilizes blood pressure under anesthesia)
  • Extensive electronic and manual monitoring, which features a constant EKG and oxygen saturation, blood pressure, thermal, respiratory and cardiac vitals
  • Spay surgery
  • Re-check appointment
  • Overnight Hospitalization

*please note that if your pet is overweight, in heat, or pregnant there will be an additional charges
